Day 1




















Lean Awareness 1 - A Lean Overview where you will:

Discover of the History of ‘Lean’ and how it can be adapted to serve the needs of both the manufacturing and service industries.

Learn the Key Lean Principles, Lean Tools and Techniques of a lean approach to business improvement.

Uncover the differences between ‘Push’ and ‘Pull’ production and how this can be applied

Explore the concept of ‘Just In Time’ manufacturing

Look at Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) and the Deming Cycle

Understand Problem Solving and it's practical application

Study Value Added & None Value Added activities

Look at the "7 Deadly Wastes" and how to identify & eliminate them

Consider which Lean tools might be appropriate for your own business or department and the appropriate next steps for you to take to begin the implementation of Lean.

This can be completed as a 1 day course and is also the first day of the 5 day Advanced course.

Day 2














Lean Awareness 2 Advanced Course - A study of the Analysis Tools used in implementing Lean where you will:

Gain an understanding of Value Stream Mapping and use this to develop a Future State Map

Appreciate the vital role Kanban plays in a lean operation

Have an appreciation of Process Flow Charting and work through an example for yourself

Understand Cycle Timing and work through an example

Understand the relevance of Takt time

Go a little deeper into Problem Solving and apply it practically

This can be completed as a 1 day course and is also the second day of the 5 day Advanced course.

Day 3

















Lean Awareness 2 Advanced Course - A Study of 5S Workplace Organisation where you will:

Understand the Key Foundations of any lean enterprise

Appreciate the philosophy and how to approach the implementation of 5S Workplace Organisation

Consider opportunities for implementation of 5S in your own workplace and understand the difficulties and solutions for sustaining the process

Develop and use a framework to develop the 7 Step Approach to Standard Operating Procedures

Understand and use a simple Training Methodology to impart your skills to the Team working on the 5S & SOP Procedures

Consider how best to practically apply these techniques to your own business or workplace

This can be completed as a 1 day course and is also the third day of the 5 day Advanced course.

Day 4














Lean Awareness 2 Advanced Course - A Study of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Poka Yoke, where you will:

Develop an understanding of the impact of Key Performance Indicators

Appreciate the value of the Overall Equipment Effectiveness as a KPI

Have an understanding of the way in which Total Productive Maintenance (Management) works

Have considered the use of Poka Yoke to build in quality

This can be completed as a 1 day course and is also the fourth day of the 5 day Advanced course.

Day 5







Lean Awareness 2 Advanced Course - A Study of Single Minute Exchange Die (SMED) / Fast Changeover, Problem Solving, Team Building, where you will:

Gain an understanding of Single Minute Exchange of Die and how to implement a SMED activity

Be capable of applying a structured problem solving approach to problems and look at a number of tools for achieving this

Consider the ways in which a lean enterprise can develop teamwork

This can be completed as a 1 day course and is also the fifth day of the 5 day Advanced course.

The price of your course includes tea, coffee and biscuits in the morning and afternoon, a two course lunch, course notes and a Lean Group Certificate upon completion of the training. Any day can be booked as a stand alone course and Certificates awarded accordingly.

Accommodation & Training is at the Haycock Hotel which costs £76.60 (+vat) for a double room (for single occupancy) B&B, per person, per night.

If you wish to book accommodation, please let us know which nights you wish to stay and we will make the reservation on your behalf.

Travel to the Haycock Hotel is easiest by car as it is just off the A1. If you prefer
to travel by train, please let us know and we’ll arrange to collect you at the Peterborough station.

The Haycock Hotel is an old Coaching Inn with the reputation of being the
best Hotel in the Peterborough area. It is set in the picturesque village of
Wansford which has a few pubs and restaurants… although we are sure you’ll
find the Haycock the perfect place to relax after a busy day!

All of our Lean Training Courses can be arranged in house. Training at your own place of work can be cost effective and has the added benefit of being tailored to suit your specific needs.
